Backstory: Once an old man, dedicated to the research of Time, he delved further and further into its recesses, until he devised a spell to put himself into partial stasis to make himself partially immortal.
He spent thousands of years in that state going further and further beyond, into the deepest reaches of Time he could, until he became a bona fide master. But one day, it all went wrong. His Magic exploded out of him in a ritual gone wrong, throwing time around his tower into flux, and stripping him of his carefully cultivated power.
Now he’s at step one, having to climb back to the heights of his previous glory with only his wits and skill.
